Optimal Performance Fitness
Optimal Performance Fitness was founded in 1997 in San Diego, California by Greg Alario. Tired of the inefficient bodybuilding dominated fitness and sports enhancement training methods beings used in health clubs and high school, college and professional training facilities, Optimal Performance Fitness was formed. Using his own experience as a lifelong athlete combined with the state of the art principles of Mark Vertegen’s Athletes Performance, Optimal Performance Fitness was created to provide an approach to training that enhanced both overall health and athletic performance for game day and everyday athletes.
Optimal Performance Fitness personal training provides for private clients and small groups variety fitness training with a functional approach. This need was established by those tired and dissatisfied with the health club atmosphere and the results they got there in addition to desiring more athletic performance ability and overall health from their state of fitness.
Optimal Performance Fitness athletic enhancement was designed and created to provide off-season and in-season programs for athletes. Off-season programs are 3 fold in in improving their future performance ability; The first is to help the athletes recovery and rebalance from the previous campaign and prepare the body for the ensuing intense overload work which is needed for improvement. The second is to progressively improve their speed, agility, strength and explosiveness. Thirdly it is to prepare the athlete’s energy system capacity to ensure they can start the next season in optimal performance condition.
Optimal Performance Fitness has designed and implemented programs for professional athletes, college, high school and youth sports teams. Members of the San Diego Flash, the nationally ranked MSU-Billings women’s soccer program, College of the Desert Tennis team (13 time state champions), and the highly successful Billings, MT Magic City Soccer Club are among past clients.
Training Fees:
- Private: $75 per 75 minute session
- Semi-Private: $45 per person per 75 minute session
- Group: $12 - $30 per person per 75 minute session depending on group size.

Greg Alario has been a competitive athlete since grade school. In High school he lettered in three sports and was an all-state running back in football. While in high school he began his life long martial arts training with Black Belt Hall Of Fame inductee, Ernie Reyes Sr., earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do . Greg played college football before a serious back injury derailed his career. After making the recovery doctors told him he couldn’t, he committing his competitive energy, full time, to kickboxing. He started his career under the tutelage of the legendary Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, and fought for 10 years out of Los Angeles, New Orleans and Tampa Florida , retiring with a professional record of 18-1 with 17 knockouts.
For 25 years Greg has worked with athletes and fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Whether working with professional athletes, CEO’s, senior citizens or film stars the objective is to design a personalized, integrated, fitness and diet plans based specifically on that client’s or group’s ability and short term goal while enhancing their long term wellness foundation.
Greg was a physical education major at San Jose State University. He is certified by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), Professional Golf Fitness Association (PGFA), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), holds a national “C” license from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), is a USA Weightlifting (USAW) certified Sports Performance Coach, and a Level 1 Track and Field Coach with USA Track & Field.
