The Nobel Peace Prize: A Lot of Hatin’ Going On

Is it healthy to have those veins in your neck and forehead popping out like that? I’m not sure I get all the outrage and the need to lash out like this. From one perspective it is an honor of the highest order. From that perspective’s polar opposite it is a ridiculous joke for sissy liberals and ignorant humanitarians. Such is our perpetual state of conflict. I suppose it is life. Could the core of outrage be centered on the unnerving possibility that the liberal/humanitarian movement’s time has come?

There has been an avalanche of news articles and statements  regarding President Obama receiving the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize.  All this LOVE is exhausting me. It seems there are many ego’s very upset and spiteful in regard to the power granted the eloquent, charismatic,  black diplomat with his message of hope, peace, and reducing the strangle hold of the power elite, while emphasizing the need to recognize humanity in the formula. Lots of compartmental criticism of his efforts in cleaning up the bevy of catastrophic political/economic cesspools left for him to deal with. But most of all all, this hatin’ showed  an ignorance or indifference to the fact that it is the effort and the movement toward positive or away from negative that, in reality, is all that can be done in matters of war, state and economy much of the time. He is the president of one country not a dictator with supreme power. As a physical culturist and proponent of health and wellness of the collective body-heart-mind-soul, my concern is how this negative energy is health depleting. I’m thinking it may have had a much more beneficial impact on their health if some of those doing the hatin’ had meditated, eaten a healthy meal, got in a light workout and, MAYBE, read the statement from the Nobel Peace Prize committee before spewing their venom.

There were some very uplifting, objective, intellectual thought behind these statements from some of President Obama’s greatest fans:

The Peace Prize Is Damaged GoodsUnlike President Obama, the prize is not only about hope…

Shockingly Glenn Beck felt Obama didn’t deserve the prize. He felt all the love shared by the Tea Party protesters was much more worthy of the distinguished award.

RedState’s Erick Erickson, showed the strength of his belief in the equality of all men regardless of race, religion or creed. Showing incredible insight, he theorized President Obama must have been selected to meet an “affirmative action quota.” Erickson wrote in the highly original, on-line love journal, redstate.com, ”I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota for it.”

“Something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn’t deserve the award.” — Rush Limbaugh

“Obama will be kicked out in 2012.” This forecast was based on the fact that the Soviet Union collapsed a year after Mikhail Gorbachev won a Nobel Peace Prize – Bill Kristol

You have to really give these brother’s of humanity their props here. They have brought great clarity to the thinly veiled racism and hate mongering that drives their cause and the movement they support. All stories have different versions. Some less dramatic, polite, long time proponents of peace, humanity and faith had a different take on the Nobel committee’s selection:

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a former winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, speaking on Obama’s Nobel selection, stated, ”It is an award that speaks to the promise of President Obama’s message of hope.”

The Dalai Lama, the 1989 winner of  the Nobel Peace Prize, applauded the decision of the Nobel Peace Prize committee. He praised Obama for his efforts in creating a nuclear weapon free world and his “approach towards resolving international conflict through the wisdom and power of dialogue.” He added, “The committee has rightly noted your efforts toward a world without nuclear weapons and your constructive role in environmental protection.”

Former Peace Prize winner Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, said Obama has already provided outstanding leadership on nuclear non-proliferation. ”He has shown an unshakable commitment to diplomacy, mutual respect and dialogue as the best means of resolving conflicts,” ElBaradei said.

French President said the award confirmed “America’s return to the hearts of the people of the world.”

.

“His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.

The committee highlighted Mr Obama’s efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament.

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the Norwegian committee said in a statement.

Asked why the prize had been awarded to Mr Obama less than a year after he took office, Nobel Committee head Thorbjoern Jagland said: “It was because we would like to support what he is trying to achieve”.

“In less than a year in office, he has transformed the way we look at ourselves and the world we live in and rekindled hope for a world at peace with itself,”

The statement from the Nobel Committee said Mr Obama had “created a new climate in international politics”.

“Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play,” it said.

The committee added that the US was now playing a more constructive role in meeting “the great climatic challenges” facing the world, and that democracy and human rights would be strengthened.

History and the current state of the the world and our nation is proof of the need for redirection and restyling of leadership. An emphasis on global cooperation, humanity and personal wellness is the correct path to pursue. Regardless of the outcome, improvement must be the motivation and foundation of the efforts of those in leadership. If each of us made an effort to improve our own state of body-mind-spirit health by taking care of our physical vehicles to the best of our ability, along with applying the belief that all men are created equal, a noticeable momentum shift towards the positive would be realized.

All life is a manifestation of the spirit, the manifestation of love. And the Art of Peace is the purest form of that principle. A warrior is charged with bringing a halt to all contention and strife. Universal love functions in many forms; each manifestation should be allowed free expression. The Art of Peace is true democracy.    –Morehei Ueshiba, The Art of Peace

Management versus Routine

The Exercise Yard, or the Convict Prison, c.1890

Routine: habitual or mechanical performance of an established procedure

Management: to handle or direct with a degree of skill; to work upon or try to alter for a purpose

Working as a health and fitness educator has it moments of frustration. A reoccurring frustration is that many prospective clients come to me for assistance in their goals but are under the misunderstanding that they are sheep or lemmings. Human beings have cognitive abilities that greatly differentiate us from animals that live in herds and packs. Herds of sheep follow vacuously to the slaughterhouse and the cute, energetic lemmings follow the pack into rivers to drown or off cliffs for a fatal attempt at flying. We have the brilliant capacity to foresee this type of conclusion and separate from the pack. But, as we all know having the ability and applying it are two different. My point is that asking for a “routine” to loose weight, get buffed and sexy, re-create the ability to please your wife in bed, or ward off serious health complications or disease is only going to create minimal improvements. On the other hand, helping you to create a means of “managing” your own unique situation is going to equip you with tools that will serve you for life and make possible a state of health and fitness that was beyond your original comprehension.

A very popular “routine” out there is “cleansing”.  Cleansing is purported reduce love handles, slim your waist, and drop more than 10 pounds in a few days. My reply: If you are that full of shit you need to seriously consider doing a much better job of managing your diet, and the only way a cleanse will reduce your love handles is to do so temporarily from the dehydration involved in the routine. A routine might consist of a “diet” of obscure foods that you can’t wait to stop from eating and an aggressive exercise regimen that is making every waking hour painful, if not injuring you and giving a reason to quit. I suppose it would be safe to say that routines fall under my definition of underachieving efforts.

A managed approach would be to create a transition by starting at a point that is a positive step but not extreme in reworking your eating habits and recommending an exercise schedule that allowed for moderate daily application. This type of approach is going to allow for adaptation and habit building. A managed approach would stress the application and habit of time managed, daily application of healthy food, physical activity and proper rest for optimal long term results. An integrated, managed approach to health and fitness is going to systematically check and adjust your needs, ensuring continually progress and improvement.

I hope this has been helpful, as that is my intent. If you have the discipline, time, and knowledge to manage your health, does so today. If you need some help getting started, help in organizing a plan and accountability to stick with it until it is habit let me help you with Blue Collar Zen Wellness Coaching.

Proof our Collective Intelligence is Still Evolving

In Spite of the feds being in bed with Big Brotha Pharma

AP Poll: Third of parents oppose swine flu vaccine

As the first wave of swine flu vaccine crosses the country, more than a third of parents don’t want their kids vaccinated, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll…

…Some parents say they are concerned about side effects from the new vaccine — even though nothing serious has turned up in tests so far — while others say swine flu doesn’t amount to any greater health threat than seasonal flu…

Our collective intelligence continues to evolve even in the midst of an onslaught of rhetoric and propaganda from government sources. The informed questioning of federal health officials is a strong statement that these government puppets are thinly veiled puppets of the pharmaceutical industry and their  ravenous greed and disregard for “health” is seeping into the collective mindset.

…The belief that the new vaccine could be risky is one federal health officials have been fighting from the start…

Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, with contrived pseudo-gnosism, stood on her hands, backwards and boldly stating her appeal for widespread inoculation against the swine flu, declaring without restrictions, “We know it’s safe and secure.”

See Anything Wrong Here? : Big Brotha Pharma spends $32 million on direct-to-consumer antidepressant advertising

It is our primary responsibility to take the responsibility to know how to take care of ourself body-mind-heart-soul, to the best of our ability. I feel this message is of paramount importance considering the fact that there is a very organized, clever, intense effort being put out by “the power elite” to have us behave like good sheep and lemmings. The maneuvering of Big Brotha Pharma is glaring example of this onslaught. We are being brainwashed, convinced, subliminal messaged and demanded to include a pharmacological regime into our daily diet. The mind control box, and all forms of commercial media spew a continuous array of products that we “need”.  Beware all of you running in herds or packs.

Are You Depressed, or Just Human?

.
There is a very dangerous, arguably criminal, message of disinformation being put out here:

…all sadness is depression, depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, this pill will make you happy, your doctor will get it for you — could not be clearer. The fact that the ad appears on television, the ultimate mass medium, also implies that depression is extremely common

Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired

Why Do We Spend $34 Billion in Alternative Medicine?

Let me see, could it be we are sick and tired of being sick and tired? People are making their own decisions on their health. They are doing so with limited understanding and exaggerated, erroneous or fabricated, deceptive language and marketing information that creates confusion as to what is fact and what is fiction in alternative medicine. The AMA feels this is incredibly irresponsible.

There is little evidence to confirm the safety or efficacy of most alternative therapies,” the AMA policy states. “Much of the information currently known about these therapies makes it clear that many have not been shown to be efficacious. Well-designed, stringently controlled research should be done to evaluate the efficacy of alternative therapies.”

This is the same AMA that is the street dealer for Big Brotha Pharma in their effort to rule the world and finish the process of converting the human race to upright walking lemmings and sheep. The fact is the AMA’s pimp, Big Brotha Pharma, spends millions annually on biased, well-designed, stringently controlled research  designed to “prove” the ineffectiveness of any alternative medicine that can challenge any of their precious, toxic, but ultimately very profitable, chemical concoctions.
Some information on research studybias:

-

Beware of pharmaceutical controlled “health’ and delegating your health management to your doctor. We have a responsibility to ourselves, humanity, our family and community to contribute. The level and capacity of our health will have a definitive impact on this ability. We can only do so much while being sick and tired. It is your obligation to do all you can to educate and implement a system of holistic health management. With that said, it must be stated that it is imperative that this be done with intelligence. Using this or buying that because you read one article or a friend suggested it is irresponsible and ignorant. Self education is a long and arduous task if you are starting from ground zero. You will need guidance from a professional in naturopathic, ayervedic, or Chinese medicine to deal with health problems that arise.

The foundation of a holistic lifestyle depends on the basics: food, water, fitness and sleep. Our collective laziness in taking this responsibility seriously has a tremendous impact on the propensity of moderm medicine to become a platform for profit, as opposed to health; or the transition of the Hippocratic oath to the Hypocritical oath. It might be worth considering how we can help ourselves in regards to health with a paralleled effort  to our justified outrage, protest and demand for change in the healthcare system. A life of vibrant health is our true birthright.

He that takes medicine and neglects diet, wastes the skill of the physician.

When diet is wrong medicine is of no use.
When diet is correct medicine is of no need.

Let food be thy medicine, thy medicine shall be thy food.

What’s Wrong with this Picture?

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. –Gandhi

As  I was having my morning espresso and scrolling through news articles from various feeds and I came across this headline: Jimmy Carter: Racism behind Joe Wilson outburst. It obviously caught my eye, as it was intended to do. I read the article and  I listened to the video clip of former President Jimmy Carter. There was no reference or inference to Joe Wilson made by Jimmy Carter. Granted Joe Wilson may be a racist in his heart and mind, but Congressman Wilson made no racist statement, he just plain showed absolutely no respect for the political leader of our country and the the elected head of the system of government that he makes his life purpose. It is highly doubtful that Joe Wilson would have made that statement if the president had been white and republican, regardless of the passion for his disagreement. But, Congressman Joe Wilson’s being a racist or not is not the point here. The point here is that the attitude behind this type of slanted, revengeful, eye for an eye, highly subjective, sensationalized, fabricated journalism does much more harm than good.

It is very unfortunate that such an important statement regarding the bigotry, that has always remained under the surface, in our “free” country, made by Jimmy Carter has been used out of context the Christian Science Monitor article by Jimmy Orr

It is clear Mr. Carter was commenting on the vile, hate mongering of the recent tea party demonstration, various town hall meeting acts of similar nature and the true problem of the deep roots of racism in our society. It is a well known fact that racism is still alive, active and prevalent in our “Christian” nation and that there are many politico’s who practice and support such vile inhumanity. Lowering one’s self to the level of discourse of such a group that is in discord with any spiritual or religious dogma, is only playing into their hands.I would expect more from The Christian Science Monitor. I would expect a more objective effort in bringing news to the forefront.

Martin Luther King Jr:

Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.

Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars… Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

Returning negative energy with negative energy is a wasted act of stress that erodes the enhancement of mind, body and soul. Progressive, integrated enhancement of body, mind, heart and soul is the key to happiness and adaptability.

Take It Easy, Baby

Made It, Ma! Top Of The World

There is a gross misunderstanding in regard to the value of exercise and physical activity that is not strenuous. For many, there is a belief that if it is not of a “sweat and blood” or ‘no pain no gain” level of intensity the activity is of little value. There couldn’t be a much more ignorant perspective one could possess unless they tried to support a stand for no physical activity at all. 5 - 10 minutes of integrated, controlled, full range movement complimented with full rhythmic breathing has many benefits and many places it can fit into our seemingly, time devoid, lives. Exercises that fit into this category take very little space and include, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, martial arts katas, some dance, calisthenics, and zen walking.

Done first thing in the morning a short bout of this type of exercise will wake the body and brain up and create a calm, focused, energized state, burn some calories, rev up your metabolism for an extended metabolic rate as well as create a pliable, more balanced body.

Whether your work day is active or sedentary a short break every 2 hours will do wonders for waking up the brain and body as well and untangling some of the knots, contortions and postural deviations that occur during most of our days. It doesn’t matter whether you are sitting or constantly bending and lifting objects, your body and mental focus will be reinvigorated with a little movement and getting the blood pumping.

Even you macho-athletic studs will benefit greatly from these types of exercises. There is not a better form of active recovery to help increase your rate of recovery from intense bouts of weight lifting or any type of team competition that leaves your joints and muscle fibers talking to you

It’s All Good

Regardless of your starting point, most people, athletes included try to do too much too soon. There is also a prevalent opinion that you have too work to a point of perceived exhaustion or discomfort. Nothing could be further from the truth. Any managed approach that includes daily physical activity, sound diet and energy management is going to improve your wellness.  The truth is you will get much further in the long run if you start out at a moderate level of exertion, a level that allows you to recover quickly and get in a daily session. This allows for consistency, progression and muscle memory.  Bottom line is that working against the resistance and control of your own body is going to produce faster, wider ranging results. Be intelligent and do what you can now. Whether that is walking, riding a bike, yoga, calestenics, etc. your first goal should be getting into the habit of daily physical activity. Once the body has adapted to being used every day, if you desire, then it is time to start progressing the range and intensity of your efforts

I’m Too Sexy

Billions are spent annually on erectile dysfuntion drugs (Viagra, Levitra, Cialis) and over-the-counter “Male Enhancement” supplements. I know it is a sensitive subject but it is also very funny.  It is so typical of the way the western mind lazily looks for a quick fix and fixates on the symptom while totally ignoring the base of the problem. I find this full of humor. In reality, what is an overweight, grossly de-conditioned man going to do with a 4 hour hard on, big or small? Give himself a heart attack, throw his back out or pull a groin within the first 10 minutes, maybe. Put in a world class, intense, passionate, exhausting sexual marathon, doubtful, very doubtful. My point is not to laugh at the thought of a guy talking to his penis and demanding, then pleading with it to GIT-R-DONE!!. My point is that ignoring the management of your own health can bring about more serious problemsthan just being able to pee out of your penis like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. The majority of erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation is due to the pathetic state of health, compounded with a bevy of prescription drugs that are rendering the machismo inoperative or embarrassingly underachieving in the average American male. The solution is simple: Get your health together, brother.
